By the Grace of Allah, CPSA is blessed to have many Huffaz (those who have memorized the entire Qur’an in Arabic) amongst its student population. CPSA is committed to maintain its long tradition of establishing programs that seek to nurture and facilitate each student’s academic and religious education. This is of particular importance to our Huffaz students, who have a higher responsibility to the Qur’an they carry within their hearts. To help facilitate each Hafiz’s retention of the Qur’an, CPSA, with the foresight of Shaykh Nazim Mangera, has implemented the “Hafiz Program” during this current school year. Since most students are extremely busy during the week with school and other extracurricular activities, this program was devised to set aside a particular time during the week to ensure Quranic revision. Therefore, on Friday mornings, the program encourages the Huffaz to recite at least one part of the 30 parts of the Qur’an each week, with a noble target in mind that they will, Allah-willing, complete one revision of the Qur’an by the end of the school year.
In addition to the program, the Huffaz are strongly advised to augment their revision outside of the program as well. The Noble Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said: “The rewards of the actions of my Ummah are presented to me, even the reward of that person who removes any dirt from the Masjid. Thereafter, the sins of my Ummah were presented to me. I did not see any sin greater than that of a person who had been given a Surah or Ayah of the Qur’aan, and then he forgets it (Abu Dawood; Tirmidhi).” For this purpose, the Huffaz students are encouraged to not only revise outside of this program, but also to help themselves and the community by leading Taraweeh prayers, etc. every year. This program is unique to an Islamic School and, God-willing, will set the paradigm for other Islamic Schools to follow.
