High School

CPSA provides a high school educational program that follows an accelerated version of the curriculumhs_students_2 prescribed by the Illinois State Board of Education. Arabic and Islamic Studies also continue at a higher level than at the junior high school level. Students are given the opportunity to develop talents and capabilities in order to assume responsibility and leadership in our society. CPSA maintains high standards for achievement by emphasizing the intellectual, physical, moral, religious, emotional, and social development of each student. Because of its smaller student body, student-teacher interaction at CPSA is much higher than at other high schools. Parental cooperation and involvement also play an important role in the successful development of students.

ORIENTATION AND ENROLLMENTS

Eighth Graders  The CPSA Guidance Counselor makes two formal contacts with 8th grade students in February: (1) to provide information to students concerning enrollment procedures, academic requirements, and courses of study; (2) to meet individually with eighth-grade students and their parents/guardians in order to select courses for their freshman year. Confirmation of course selections is mailed to each student later in the spring.

Freshmen, sophomores, juniors: The CPSA Guidance Counselor maintains an ongoing communication with his students. Students and parents should be aware that important information relevant to course selection and graduation requirements is disseminated through the Guidance Counselor and school publications. Informational sessions concerning enrollment for the following year are conducted in December and January.  Actual enrollment is finalized a few weeks later. Each student is responsible for returning the signed enrollment sheet by the deadline. Course confirmations are mailed to parents and constitute formal notification of a student’s enrollment.
